The drinking water wells in parts of West Africa are only partially functional or not functional at all due to poor water quality, defective pumps or an insufficient water flow. Malfunctions in wells are often caused by blockages from lime, iron and manganese oxides.
This project aims to build new, modern wells in villages without sufficient sources of drinking water. The work from this project is being carried out in collaboration with local companies and residents in order to create a sustainable, positive impact.
Before the actual well construction, a field study is carried out with a team on site with the aim of finding the optimal location of the well. This ensures that your donation has the greatest possible impact. Then water samples are taken and the quality of the groundwater is analyzed in the laboratory.
After evaluating the data, it will be defined in which villages wells will be created.
The facilities are regularly maintained so that the villagers can draw a significantly higher amount of drinking water. Our on-site team is in constant contact with the communities, visiting them regularly. This ensures sustainably-supported “water committees” made up of local community members for long-term success.
What we can do together:
This project aims to build new wells in villages without sufficient sources of drinking water, and to deepen and adapt traditional wells and protect them hygienically. The work is being carried out in collaboration with local companies and residents in order to create a lasting, positive effect. After determining and evaluating data, it is defined as to which villages the wells will be built or renewed.
Sustainability:
The facilities are regularly maintained so that the villagers can draw a significantly higher and cleaner amount of drinking water. Our on-site team is in constant contact with the communities, visiting them regularly and thus ensuring sustainability, with the “water committees” made up of community members. This ensures that your donation has the greatest possible impact and that the local people learn and apply personal responsibility.
